Global Women's Initiative
The Global Women’s Initiative (GWI) is a group that was formed with the goal of increasing engagement and retention levels of females, attracting female talent, enhancing the development of female employees with mentoring and educational programs and leveraging female talent to improve employee and customer loyalty.
Employee involvement is an integral part of how we do business and defines our culture. Each employee has the opportunity to be heard and the ability to effect change through employee participation groups, Avis Experience & Performance Groups (EPGs) and Budget's Pride Committees. Each month, Operations identifies a specific area of improvement to be discussed by the teams. Employees are encouraged to identify business opportunities, ideas or suggestions to be discussed at their meetings.
Active in Our Communities
Avis Budget Group is committed to being a responsible member of the communities in which we operate. Our charitable efforts include support of national organizations including the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Wounded Warrior Project and Veterans Across America. Locally, employees organize grassroots efforts in support of numerous organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, Toys for Tots and other regional nonprofits. Employees at our Parsippany headquarters have the opportunity to join Teamworks, a volunteer group tasked with organizing monthly charitable events and efforts within headquarters that are often extended to the field locations.
We are dedicated to providing the Customer Led Experience - an approach that combines operational excellence with a level of customer service that meets our customer's needs, wants and preferences. In this increasingly commoditized world, consumers will choose the company that provides the best experience each time they rent a vehicle.
The Voice of the Customer (VOTC) survey is an ongoing customer satisfaction survey sent to Avis and Budget car renters via email. The VOTC survey captures and measures customer satisfaction based on the customer's rental experience with a specific rental location. Managers use VOTC data to understand the customer's experience and enhance it where gaps exist. The results of the survey provide each location the opportunity to pinpoint their location's strengths as well as opportunities to improve customer satisfaction results.
Our annual Voice of the Employee (VOTE) survey gathers feedback from employees around the world. This survey helps measure how we are doing as an organization to develop, support and encourage our team members. It also compares our results to other companies that are similar in size to add some perspective. The survey is 100 percent confidential and is conducted by a well-respected third party who analyzes and reports the results. We are proud that for the last four years we have received a response rate of over 90 percent and in 2015 over 94 percent of our employees completed the survey.
Most important is what we do with results. We believe our response rate is high because team members know that actions are taken as a response to their input. In fact, we use the feedback from VOTE to develop action plans to address areas of concern. The action plans are developed and implemented on a local, regional and corporate level. The leader of each field operation or support department receives results for their particular team in order to respond to concerns or identify areas to target for improvement that are specific to their group or region.
Avis Budget Group places a great emphasis and value on identifying and solving problems. Performance Excellence (PEx) is a team-based, "process-improvement" initiative that works with associates in identifying problems and implementing solutions to run our business more efficiently, creating greater customer value and generating sustainable cost savings, without ever compromising on our promise of service excellence. PEx gives associates a standard set of tools to identify opportunities, improve our processes and reduce waste. Our goal is to make lasting improvements. Ideas generated from associates are critical to our ongoing success and are welcomed.
Avis Budget Group values and appreciates employees' contributions and frequently honors our employees for going above and beyond. The Company's recognition programs consist of varying levels of recognition, from On-the-Spot awards, such as gift cards given out locally, to more formal awards requiring nomination and management approval. The loyalty and dedication of our employees is celebrated through our service recognition awards.
For the past four summers, the Senior Leadership Team has hit the road for our annual Pride Rallies to visit various locations across the country to recognize and reward associates for their hard work. To see some of the activity, visit us on Twitter @GoAvisBudget.
